Life's a Beach

I look through my pictures from our recent trip to Treasure Island, Florida.  Beautiful sunsets, white sand everywhere, blue-green water, palm trees, and shells - lots of shells.  We rented a condo on Sunset Beach with a fabulous view of the water.  Vicki loves the beach and not for the usual reasons.  She's not into sunbathing, and we don't care about all the "tourist activities" (para sailing, snorkeling, charter fishing, riding a wave runner, etc.) that most people insist on doing while at the beach.
Our daily view...relaxing and beautiful.

She loves watching the water and the sea life, or, in this case, the Gulf life: pelicans, sandpipers, egrets, and dolphins (she loves the dolphins!).  We both love to just sit and hang out whether on the beach or from our condo's balcony.  It's relaxing and it's peaceful.  And best of all, it's just the two of us.  We just sit, or walk, and watch the birds and the water...and we talk.  We talk about all kinds of things and about nothing at all.  It's our time to recharge from the stresses of the "real world" and reconnect as partners and as best friends.

Some day we'll retire to an area on or near the water.  More than likely it will be a beach.  Preferably, the beach will be along the Gulf Coast of Florida.  Hopefully, the beaches will still be there in 10 to 15 years.  Of course, I hope to still be here in ten to fifteen years.  I want to be able to spend at least a few quality years with Vicki simply doing nothing...just hanging out and watching the waves.  Just Vicki and me walking along the beach, occasionally combing for shells, and talking about our lives together.

Some day.
